“My art is a reflection of the human experience — flawed, yet beautiful in its vulnerability.”

Born into a family immersed in Philippine politics,
Primicias’ early years were colored by the backdrop of electioneering, riots, and Martial law, shaping her
perception of the world and igniting her passion for art as a means of expression and escape. Though drawn to fine art, circumstances led her to temporary
administrative roles at ad agencies, exposing her to the vibrant world of graphic design. Despite her father’s reservations, Primicias persisted, funding her own education and earning a degree in Graphic Design from George Brown College. She pursued further studies at the University of Toronto, graduating with a Bachelor’s in Fine Art History. A transformative summer in Siena, Italy, deepened her connection to art, alongside courses at the Ontario College of Art and Design and the Art Institute in Chicago.

After moving to Raleigh NC, she rekindled her passion for fine art. Her compositions provide a tranquil space amidst a chaotic world, much like she yearned for growing up. Inspired by the unpredictable patterns found in both natural landscapes and urban settings, she creates compositions that transport viewers to a realm that embraces imperfections, and where spontaneity seamlessly merges with intentional design.

Her artistry has garnered accolades and acclaim and is a part of prestigious collections at Oregon Health and Science University, Salt Lake City Airport, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Northeast Technical College in Wisconsin. She has also enjoyed considerable recognition in the graphic design world, with work included in esteemed publications such as Communication Arts, the American Institute of Graphic Arts, and Print magazine.

If you have been to New Elements Gallery, you have seen Victoria’s work. During September of 2022 her show “Decadent Quietude” was a transformative experience rooted in restfulness. Soft, thoughtful color palettes merged with abstract landscapes, crafting moments of rich tension balanced by a distinctive texture—a hallmark of the artist’s unique process. The result is an endlessly captivating image that embodies tranquility and quietude.

You can meet Victoria and see more of her new work later this year at our 22 August Fourth Friday Show.
